Dr Adekoyejo Ogunro

Principal Orthodontist

FDS RCS(Eng.); MSc(Lond.); MOrth RCSEd; Stat(1999)

Dr Ogunro attended Dental school in his native Nigeria and subsequently entered General Professional Training working as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he gained surgical experience in many complex cases in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. During this time he undertook the Membership Examination for the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDS RCS) in 1997. In 1999 he completed the statutory exam and became fully registered with the General Dental council.

Following this, Dr Ogunro pursued his passion for straightening misaligned teeth and undertook intensive Orthodontic training at the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas School of Medicine and Dentistry and at the The Royal Alexandra Hospital for sick children in Brighton.

In 2002 he gained a Masters (MSc) in Orthodontics and attained Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a year later. He is listed on the General Dental Council specialist list in Orthodontics and Oral Surgery, and he is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society, American Orthodontic Society and World Federation of Orthodontists.

Dr Ogunro has also been a clinical advisor for Warwick University, paving the way for many dentists to become orthodontists.

Dr Ogunro’s main interests are early treatment, functional, fixed, and removable appliance mechanics and child, teenage and adult orthodontic treatment. To this end, he has completed thousands of Invisalign cases and he is recognised as an Invisalign APEX Provider. This places Dr Ogunro in the Top 1% of all Invisalign providers and demonstrates his commitment to orthodontics and his patients.

Dr Kiarash Banai

Principal Orthodontist

BDS(Lon.) MFDS RCS(Eng.) MSc(Lon.) MOrth RCSEd

Dr Kiarash Banai attained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from King’s College London in 1996. Following a year in General Dental Practice, he entered General Professional Training working as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

During this time, he undertook the Membership Examination for the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MFDS RCS) in 1999. He subsequently entered higher specialist training as a specialist Registrar in Orthodontics at the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas School of Medicine and Dentistry and St George’s Hospital in London.

In 2002, Dr Banai completed a master’s in science degree (MSc) in Orthodontics with a published MSc thesis. After three years in specialist training, he undertook the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. He is on the General Dental Council specialist list in Orthodontics.

Dr. Banai has been a clinical mentor for both Warwick University and St George’s Hospital, where his role dentists internationally to qualify as Orthodontists.

Dr.Banai has completed thousands of Invisalign cases and he is recognised as an Invisalign APEX Provider. This places Dr Banai in the Top 1% of all Invisalign providers and demonstrates his commitment to orthodontics and his patients.

He loves to cook and travel the world at his leisure.

Dr Chris Barker

Specialist in Orthodontics

DDS, BChD, MFDS RCS(Ed), MOrth RCS(Ed), FDS(Orth)RCS(Eng), PG Cert(Med Ed)

Chris qualified in Dentistry from the University of Leeds in 2003. Following Vocational Training, Chris gained experience working in General & Community Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Paediatric Dentistry as well as teaching Undergraduate Dental students at the University of Leeds.

Chris completed his Specialist Orthodontic training at Bristol Dental Hospital and the Royal United Hospital, Bath, becoming a Specialist in Orthodontics in 2011.

Chris has advanced Orthodontic training to Consultant level, which was undertaken at York Hospital and Leeds Dental Institute and he has been a Consultant in Orthodontics at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield since 2014. Chris works part-time in Hospital and Private & NHS specialist practice providing a wide range of orthodontic treatment. Chris enjoys teaching orthodontics and is involved in teaching undergraduates, postgraduate students and orthodontic therapists. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England and is involved in training the future dental workforce.

Chris is a caring, highly respected Consultant level Orthodontist with vast experience treating patients of all ages and managing a wide range of complex orthodontic cases. Chris especially enjoys treating patients where multiple areas of dentistry are required to create the ideal result (multidisciplinary cases involving restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Oral surgery and Maxillofacial surgery).

Orthodontics can provide massive transformations for patients, not only in their dental appearance but often an increase in confidence with their new smile. Chris will work with his patients to ensure that their treatment goals and needs are addressed with all options explained.

Chris uses a range of contemporary orthodontic appliances including Invisalign, clear and metal fixed appliances. He provides the latest innovations in orthodontics to manage complex cases.

Dilhani Silva

Group Practice Manager

Dilhani joined Orthoclinic as Practice Manager in February 2011 armed with numerous years of practice management experience. Dilhani is involved in all areas of practice administration, including health and safely, clinical governance, human resource management and marketing.

As a former dental nurse Dilhani appreciates that our patients are central to everything that we do, and it is fair to say that her priority is keeping our patients healthy and happy!

Dilhani enjoys travelling to far-flung destinations, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Claire Emmett

Practice Manager

Claire has worked in dentistry since 1998 starting out as a trainee dental nurse and then progressing, over the years, through numerous roles including Treatment Co-ordinator and Dental Nurse Tutor.

Claire has a wealth of knowledge in training dental nurses and her previous experience includes both NHS and private practice, including working within a Specialist Treatment Centre providing all aspects of dentistry.

Claire enjoys spending time with her family and walking her dog.

Nicola

Nicola is one of our most vital colleagues and Orthodontic Therapists at Orthokind. She has worked in dentistry for the last fourteen years, eleven of which have been spent in orthodontics, and 8 here at Orthokind. She loves all aspects of her role, especially being more connected with patients. Outside of work she enjoys the gym, walks, and spending time with my young family. And maybe enjoy a holiday or 2.

Sharon

Sharon is a dedicated, loyal member of the Orthokind family for 24 years. She gained her Orthodontic nursing and Radiography qualifications before embarking on a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy and graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016. She is very competitive and loves running, alongside listening to music, going to the theatre, and concerts – especially Ollie Murs (or any excuse to go to London!) In lockdown Sharon started a course in Spanish and is still learning and will practice for anyone who is willing to listen.

Jane

Jane graduated as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 2006 from Sheffield Dental Hospital. After working in both General Dental Practices and at Orthokind, she studied Orthodontic Therapy at UCLAN in 2009 where she passed with Distinction. In 2009 Jane also gained the Royal College of Surgeons Orthodontic Therapy Qualification. Jane has been looking after patients at Orthokind since 2007, and more recently has been dividing her week between work as an Orthodontic Therapist and Dental Hygienist. Outside of work, Jane loves being with her young family, from walking and mountain biking to spending time at the beach.

Zoe

Zoe brings over two decades of experience in dentistry to our practice, where she works two days a week focusing on patient care. She ensures every patient feels relaxed and well-informed about their treatment journey. Starting her career in 2001 as a dental nurse, Zoe gained valuable experience in Maxillofacial, Restorative, and Orthodontic specialties. Her passion for dentistry led her to further her qualifications, becoming a highly skilled Orthodontic Therapist. Always eager to stay ahead, Zoe continues to learn new techniques and refine her skills to deliver the best possible outcomes for her patients. Outside of work, Zoe is an accomplished martial arts judge, enjoys dance classes, and loves spending time with her family.

Charlotte

Charlotte joined Orthokind as a trainee Dental Nurse in 2020 and qualified, with distinction, in 2021. She has since gained a qualification in radiography and qualified as an Orthodontic Nurse in 2024. Charlotte became Head Nurse in August 2024 and now leads Orthokind’s nursing team, she is passionate about her role and is always striving to ensure everything in the practice runs smoothly. In her spare time Charlotte enjoys walking her dog Layla on the farm where she lives and looking after her 9 chickens. She also enjoys playing badminton and spending time with her family.
